As taxis and vehicles are not allowed in the area, you have to walk uphill for 15 minutes to reach the top of the Hill. It also has a temple at its summit called Mahakal Temple which was originally occupied by Bhutia Busty Monastery. The private taxis and travel agents sell various tour packages such as the 7-point package that includes seven places to visit such as the Himalayan Mountaineering Institute/Zoo, Cable Car, Peace Pagoda, etc. and takes about 5 hours to complete the tour. Point-to-point dedicated taxi rides start at Rs. 150 for even short distances. The most economical way is to board a shared taxi that charges Rs. 10 for short distance rides and Rs. 20 for longer distances. During the season, these shared taxis also operate for few select local sightseeing tours like 3-point tour in Darjeeling and few other local tours.
